Based in Adelaide and reporting directly to the Key Account Director, this is a significant senior operational leadership role responsible for the performance of Hospitality, Cleaning, Accommodation, Laundry, Transport and Fitness services across metropolitan, regional and remote Defence locations. 

At the centre of this role is creating an exceptional experience for Defence personnel across the places they live, work, train and connect. By bringing together Hospitality, Cleaning, Accommodation, Laundry, Transport and Fitness services, you will shape an operation that is seamless, responsive and makes a meaningful difference every day. 

The Operations Manager will bring multiple service lines together to deliver a seamless, consistent and high-quality customer experience. Client relationship management and key stakeholder engagement will be critical to success, requiring a visible and trusted leader who can understand customer priorities, navigate complexity and turn strategic commitments into reliable operational outcomes. 

A snapshot of what you will do: 

  • Lead the safe, reliable and customer focused delivery of Hospitality, Cleaning, Accommodation, Laundry, Transport and Fitness services across South Australia.  

  • Take overall accountability for service performance, customer experience, quality, safety, compliance and operational delivery across multiple locations.  

  • Build trusted relationships with Defence representatives, senior client leaders, internal partners and other key stakeholders.  

  • Act as a senior operational point of contact, proactively managing expectations, resolving issues and maintaining open and effective communication.  

  • Translate contract requirements and customer priorities into clear operational plans, service standards and measurable outcomes.  

  • Lead, develop and empower geographically dispersed teams, creating a culture of accountability, inclusion and service excellence.  

  • Work across a broader Team of Teams to ensure services are coordinated, responsive and aligned with contract priorities.  

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, transformation and continuous improvement across each service line.  

  • Ensure services support the effective use and longevity of Defence assets while providing safe, healthy and welcoming environments.  

  • Maintain strong governance across quality, safety, compliance, sustainability and risk.  

  • Respond decisively to operational challenges, customer feedback and emerging priorities.  

  • Contribute to contract strategy, performance reviews and broader business planning.  

  • Travel regularly between Defence locations across metropolitan, regional and remote South Australia.

What you will possess to be successful: 

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in senior operational leadership within facilities management, hospitality, accommodation, integrated services or another complex service environment.  

  • Demonstrated experience leading geographically dispersed, multi service and multi-site operations.   

  • Exceptional client relationship management and key stakeholder engagement capability.  

  • A strong hospitality and customer-service mindset, with the ability to create consistent experiences across diverse locations and service lines.  

  • The confidence to influence senior stakeholders, manage complex conversations and build trusted long term partnerships.  

  • The ability to lead autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver against strict deadlines.  

What you will possess to be successful: 

  • A track record of lifting performance, developing leaders and embedding accountable operational cultures.  

  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate strategy into operational delivery.  

  • Confidence using data, technology and insights to drive informed decisions and continuous improvement.
