Operations Manager – Wellington Regional Hospital

Monday–Friday | 2:00pm–10:30pm

Are you an experienced people leader who thrives in a fast-paced, service-critical environment?

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead afternoon and evening cleaning operations at Wellington Regional Hospital, supporting a wider portfolio across the Wellington region.

This is a permanent, full-time leadership role with responsibility for service delivery, team performance, and stakeholder engagement within a hospital environment where quality, safety, and reliability are essential.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring consistently high cleaning standards across hospital and health sites including Wellington Regional Hospital and supporting sites within the wider Wellington region.

This is a hands-on leadership role, predominantly overseeing afternoon and evening operations, where you will provide visible leadership, resolve issues in real time, and support your supervisors and teams to succeed.

While experience in healthcare or cleaning services is desirable, we are open to strong operational leaders from facilities management or similar environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a large and diverse cleaning workforce, primarily across afternoon and evening shifts

  • Ensure cleaning standards meet contractual, clinical, and infection-prevention requirements

  • Build strong, professional relationships with hospital staff, clients, and internal stakeholders

  • Plan and manage resourcing, rosters, and coverage to meet operational demands

  • Monitor performance, address issues proactively, and drive continuous improvement

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, policies, and procedures

  • Contribute to budget management and cost control within your area of responsibility

About You

You are a confident, organised leader who enjoys being visible on site and supporting teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

You will ideally bring:

  • Proven experience managing cleaning services or facilities operations

  • Experience leading teams across multiple or complex sites

  • Strong people-management skills, including coaching, performance management, and engagement

  • A customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders

  • Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices

  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with urgency

  • Confidence using systems, procedures, and reporting tools

A relevant tertiary qualification in facilities management, property, business, or a recognised cleaning qualification would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Why Join Us?

  • A stable Monday–Friday role with consistent hours

  • The opportunity to lead a critical service within a hospital environment

  • Competitive salary and strong organisational support

  • Clear career pathways within a global organisation

  • A collaborative, inclusive culture that values its people
